TYE CHANDIGARH FIRST SESSION – 2019
The Young Entrepreneurs program (TYE) program 2019 kicked off its first session with fantastic lecture on Team Building and Ideation.
The session focussed on activity based learning with group tasks and team assembly. The session started with an introductory activity led by Ms.Ritika Singh , CEO Kontent factory and Mr.Hitesh Kumar Gulati, Change and Organizational development consultant. The energy of the Ms Ritika and Mr Gulati was infectious and soon uplifted and brought about a roaring enthusiasm in children. Children expressed about themselves and interacted with their fellow teammates building a friendly atmosphere. The session was a true team building, as described by Mr Gulati, "The active participation by students in the activity was a perfect display of the differences in their strengths of Leadership, Creativity, Usefulness/ Resourcefulness, Presentation and how these differences compliment each other as the building blocks of the team".
The students were divided in groups to move to activity based learning – THE NEWSPAPER FASHION SHOW.
The activity required:
- The teams to decide a leader and creative member.
- Preparation of 2 outfits each for a boy and girl from newspapers, origami sheets and other stationary items
- The time assigned for the task was 15 mins.
- Presentation of the outfit by the team under 2 min
The mentors shared the judgement through L- CUP which had four hands: Leadership, Creativity , Usefulness of resources and Presentation.
The children came up with wonderful and innovative ideas and all teams completed the task under the desired time limit which left all the judges in awe. The task taught the students about time management, brainstorming, creativity and coordination. The student’s learnt team building with fun.
The newspaper fashion show ended with the outfit presentation of each team and a group photo of all the Young Entrepreneurs and the Mentors.
The next session on Ideation was led by Mr. Harit Mohan CEO, Signicent Technology and Mr.Amit Singla ,CEO NextGen Technologies to inculcate basic skills of startup in the students. The session emphasised on ways to come up with an idea through observation, web browsing and social interaction. The mentors helped students to understand ways to improve the existing ideas through surveys, coming up with wild and disruptive ideas. Through the words of the mentors – “Ideation is backed by good mentors and investors”.
An exercise was performed based on the above activity of newspaper fashion show. The children were asked to name their own fashion brands with labels which have not been taken by any other organisations. It was an innovative exercise which helped children understand the brand naming process which is as important as the product itself.
The session ended with the process of “ Protection of the idea” in a startup. The protection of your idea is important to innovate it and keep it safe. It included knowledge on patents, copyrights and trademarks.
The mentors added that the basic process of startup begins with analysis of bugs and faults in an existing idea and combining your passion with the fault to find its solution.
The session was a great experience for all the children as everyone was enthralled with confidence and motivation to become the Future Entrepreneurs. All the participants are eagerly awaiting the next session. A true program to inculcate the seed of Leadership.
