TiE Chandigarh's TYE program stepped forward in the journey of educating Young Entrepreneurs. Mr.Joseph Jude was the speaker for the session. He is a business technologist who works with CXOs to solve their business problems with Technology, he has co-authored a book on Ionic framework and is currently writing a book on Hapi.JS. He is the Chief Technical Officer of Net solutions. Mr Jude delivered a session on LEAN CANVAS.
The session began with the main problem faced by every startup which becomes its leading cause of failure – they do not solve a problem for the market. The essential factor for a startup is to identify the PROBLEM and the BIG MARKET associated with it. The speaker gave the students a framework around which the above listed factors can be easily thought through and narrowed. He phrased it as PASTOR.
P- Persons A-Ache S-Scenarios T-Transformation O-Offer R- Reward
The PASTOR gives the framework to decide the group of people whom the startup targets, to understand the ache they have and how our startup can solve it. The scenarios under which the pain can be experienced and how our startup can bring about transformation in their life. Offer is the solution which the startups have for the potential customers and the Reward gives the amount of satisfaction and the revenue earned from the startup.
The knowledge and energy radiated by Mr Jude was lapped up by students. He made the session very interactive for students asking them to share their ideas and the problem they aim to solve. Many students shared their amazing ideas some of which were environment friendly and some technologically advanced. They interacted with Mr.Jude and addressed the some very crucial loopholes to be improved like the target audience, researching data, customer feedaback.
The entrepreneurship as described by the speaker has First order negative and second order positive. It eventually gives the output and requires persistence. The students were given a sheet of Lean Canvas which helps to deconstruct the idea into minimalistic approaches and address key assumptions. Lean Canvas gives the basic idea of all essential factors responsible for a startup.
The target audience should be approachable and focussed. The students were intrigued by the amazing idea of Lean Canvas. The unique value proposition of a product is an essential component of Lean Canvas which differentiates one startup from other having similar ideation. The startup should affect Volume and Value , only then the affect will be sustainable. Bisar, a class 9th student of Strawberry Fields School found the volume – value proposition very interesting.
The session went further with a Team exercise in which an experienced team comprising of Mr.Harit Mohan, Ms.Ritika Singh from Kontent Factory and Mr. Joseph Jude interacted with students and discussed their ideation. They went through with each student ,working on their individual ideas and opportunities they have . Students filled Lean canvas and realised that the ideas need to be sustainable over years and came up with surprising ideas for future.
Amber, a 9th class Carmel Convent school student found the lecture to be interesting. Sadhika and Aryan found the session to be very informative and useful. The TiE session ended with a QnA wherein students participated with gusto to get useful insights.
Keep Checking the space on many more informative titbits. Hope you all had a great Diwali. "Tricity Bits & Bytes" will be back with soon.
